Books I’ll {PROBABLY} Never Finish…

Hey guys,

This is going to be a hard post for some of you to read. I just thought I’d warn you before you get too mad at me. I currently have a collection of books that I’ve started, but can’t bring myself to finish. Surprisingly, many of these are beloved top read picks.

lady1. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I know, I know. I’m not really on the Shadow Hunters bandwagon. I purchased Lady Midnight through Audible. I’ve never been disappoint with my Audible purchased, but I COULD NOT get into this novel. I was so bored. I made it through about 45% of the book and couldn’t bring myself to finish the rest. I would like to preface though, I have never read the Mortal Instruments series. Maybe it would have helped me get through this first book of her new series?

While I complete respect backstories and explains, the introduction to this book dragged onnnn. I found myself growing impatient very quickly. I did enjoy the relationship development in the beginning of the novel, but it was far too drawn out for me. I felt like Jacob was never going to reach Miss Peregrine’s! And for me… he never will because I don’t have any more energy to read on.

Bottom line, I was not a fan of the main character, Karou. With that, I couldn’t get into the novel. The story was intriguing at first,  my interest quickly faded. I’ve also attempted to finish this book various times and have still failed to do so.

I realize these any favorite books to many readers. I’m willing to be convinced to give these novels another try with a convincing argument. 😛

If you loved any of these reads, let me know why in the comments below.

xoxo Samantha

Lady Midnight is a book to read after you’ve read The Mortal Instruments, in my opinion. It helps you to understand the world and its inhabitants, so I can understand why you have had issues trying to get through it. What I recommend is to go back and read City of Bones and see if you can get into the world there. If you do that and like it, then read the rest of the series.

I also totally understand not getting into Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I read it several years ago and it was a struggle to get through it, and I didn’t really like it. I’m maybe going to give it another chance though, just in case I just wasn’t in the proper mood for it then.
