Popular Series I Haven’t Read

Hey guys,

I’m starting to feel left out. I have been seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child everywhere! The book has literally taken over Target and just about every other store in the area. It was even right at the entrance of my local grocery store. But it has got me thinking, there are a few popular series I haven’t read. Here they are:

harry_potter_and_the_sorcerers_stone1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

I know, I can’t even believe it either. I have never read Harry Potter. I picked up the first novel in the series, The Sorcerer’s Stone, over a zillion times. I’ve read through the first chapter, but I ever make it passed that point. I remember picking it up when I was younger and I just couldn’t get into it. I have thought about trying it again, especially with the new release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but who knows!

city_of_bones2. The Immortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

This is another fail. I am totally a fan of the Shadow Hunter television show, but I can’t claim to be a part of the fandom because I have never read the books. I own them, but I haven’t read them. (I actually think I own two copies of City of Bones.) I actually started reading Lady Midnight, which references Jace and Clary a lot. So, luckily I’ve seen the television show to understand the references.

3. Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

I have been told this is a mighty fine series, but I have never even thought of starting it. It’s never come across my TBR. Once again, I’ve seen the movies and that’s probably as far as I’ll ever get with this series.

Have you guys read or not read these series? If you have read them, what’d you think of them?

I haven’t read any of them either! I’ve been thinking about eventually reading Harry Potter. I loved the movies. The Mortal Instruments I’m not sure about because I didn’t really care for the movie and I’ve heard from a couple people that the books are slow and at times boring.

I wish you more luck the next time you pick Harry Potter up! The first few books are more childish, but the further you get into the series, the more the books (and characters) grow. The last one definitely isn’t a children’s book.

I’ve read the first book of both The Mortal Instrument and Percy Jackson, didn’t like City of Bones and just haven’t picked up the rest of the Percy Jackson series (but I want to continue).

TMI is like 1000x better than the show 😂 So if you like the show, I think you’d love the books! I’d give them a chance. And people may have told you, but if you read Lady Midnight before hand, it’ll spoil lots of stuff for you. Just a warning 😉
I haven’t read Percy either, and I just read HP about two years ago. I feel so stupid for not reading it sooner. I’m a die-hard fan now.

I actually watched the show, and it grew on me a bit. I guess just cause I love the story so much. Bad acting for sure 😂 But it follows the book alright. It included some stuff from the second book as well, but I’m happy it follows. I don’t know if you saw the movie, but that didn’t 😂

As a separate entity, I really liked the movie too! Jamie was a much better Jace than TV show Jace, in my opinion. Jace is supposed to be a sarcastic and narcissistic little bitch who you can’t help but love because he’s so damaged underneath. And I feel like you don’t get that at all with tv Jace. In hoping they’ll bring more into his character later. And I love Lily Collins too! She was a great Clary.

Yeah, that’s not at all how Jace is supposed to be. But that is what I get from the show. I’m hoping they’ll improve his character. In the book he makes me laugh out loud with his ridiculous remarks and banter with Simon

I haven’t finished TMI either. Barely got through the second book. I can understand that, but Harry Potter??? Sad face! Well if you ever do get around to picking it up I sure hope you love it 🙂

I haven’t read anything by Cassandra Clare either but I plan to really soon! I also haven’t read Percy Jackson but at this point I don’t know if I will. You gotta read Harry Potter!!! Well… don’t gotta if you don’t want but it gets really really good AFTER Chamber of Secrets if that helps. The first two are still good but it really takes off on book 3 🙂
