I can admit that I definitely have book buying addiction. My bedroom is 60% books, 40% normal bedroom items. Despite my owned TBR book pile to be significantly abundant, I continue to buy new books to add to that list. I mean, how can I not?! The world is filled with so many captivating books and new releases are always popping up to lure me into buying them.
But, as we all may know, feeding a book buying addiction is not easy on our wallets. Over the years, I have come across various sites, book stores, and community events that sell bargain books!
So, if you’re on a budget like me, but still need to satisfy your book addiction… check out these places below.
Bargain Sellers
This has become my all time favorite site! Each week, this site updates their shopping page with newly available bargain books. They have an amazing selection of young adult books, many which are popular in the book world. There are so many books at that $1.99 – $2.99, although the prices do range. I’ve bought various books from this site, all new condition. They even sell new autographed books!!
Bookbub is the perfect site for ereaders. They comprise lists of free or cheap ebooks provided through alternative retailers each week. The site covers a large range of book genres.
As many people know, Amazon is a great retailer to use for buying bargain books. Most of their prices for books are cheaper than bookstore prices. You can also find very cheap used books.
- Barnes and Noble
(Barnes and Noble Bargain Books)
If you go to Barnes and Noble, you’ve probably seen the Bargain book section which is typically at the front of the store. Many of the books there are around $5 each. However, the online site for the store has a very wide selection of books for cheap, including books under $5.
- Thrift Stores
Thrift stores can be a great place to find books for $ 0.50 – $1.00. I have gotten many books for thrift stores that were in like-new condition.
Bargain Book Events
- Amazon Prime
For students, Amazon Prime is $50 for a year subscription. It’s actually quite an amazing deal because it provides free shipping, access to prime video streaming, and best of all…. 1 free ebook a month! Each month, Amazon Prime allows you to pick from 1 of 3 ebooks they are presenting.
Goodreads is a site used by book lovers to document and review books they have read. But they also have giveaways. Many of the giveaway books are new releases. Some have many copies available, others may only have one. You can enter as many giveaways as you wish, but can only enter the giveaway for a certain book one time per household.
- Public Libraries
Libraries are obviously a great place to borrow books and save money. However, libraries also often have a small sale book section. I was actually at the library the other day and they have a HUGE book sale that filled up two rooms with bargain books.
- Community Events
My city often has book swaps that take place in either the senior center or the public library. It is definitely worth checking out. You can ask your local library about this or even look at your city website for local events.
